This project started out as my Master project at Design school Kolding. I got the assignment from Zentropa of creating the concept and post production graphics for a miniseries called Håbet (The Hope) produced for TV 2 Denmark and directed by Christian E. Christiansen.
It is a story about an orphan girl “Marie” that in the year 1899 is separated from her two smaller siblings when they are adopted by the captain of a merchants ship and his wife. Marie decides to follow her siblings by disguising as a boy and getting hired as a sailor on the same ship. starting an adventure on the scandinavian seas trying to keep the family together and maybe finding their father who is believed to be drowned with his ship.
I collaborated with producer Jonas Bakker and Cammilla Albrechsen on the story and art direction for the intro sequence. I created a melancholic vision of how it would be to live on a trade vessel in 1899 longing for a better life and a place to call home.
After my master project we continued the collaboration and created a shorter more up beat final version of the intro sequence that was fitted the format and music TV 2 had chosen for the series.

Developing the storyboard from framegrabs and notes of clips i needed to create.
Style test, tried out different looks for the intro. Instead of the paper, in the final version I create a similar effect with old maritime maps.
